This wind blew me as far as possible from the home. Now, when the most of far remote places are already visited, I feel interest in traveling to these places which I always ignored: North-Western corner of Russia: Pskov, Novgorod and Veliko-Lukskii Region.

On the summit of Mount Elbrus by Robert Geier
The Caucus Mountains and Southern Russia in general is the most beautiful area I have ever been. Glaciers at the end of every valley perfect for ice climbing, snowcapped mountains all around perfect for hiking and climbing, rivers swelled by thawing of the winter snows (wish I had a kayak), thick pine forests, wild strawberries all over the ground, and wildflowers, butterflies and bumble bees in the mountain meadows. Cycling in Russia (Nishny Novgorod and Vladimir) by Axel Pichlmaier
The centre of Nishny is pretty nice. The Kremlin, now seat of the local government, is brand new renovated, more churches beam in fresh paint. From a hill you have a good view over the rivers Volga and Oka, both large compared to, for example, the famous Rhine. There is pulsing life in the streets of the centre, the Yarmarka (an exposition centre), and the boiling but run down area around the railway station.
